How do I make my wedding invitations "nicer"?
-
I bought make your own invitations for our wedding because we are on a tight budget, and since buying them, I have noticed nicer ones, and seen most of the invitations I have recieved are "super fancy". Mine are plain, one sheet flat with a silver border and two silver rings at the top. What can I do to make mine nicer? Any advice?

Answer:
HIi What you can do it go to Michael's or any craft store and purchase a sheet of Rhinestones depending on your color of the wedding. They are adhesive rhinestones you can easily stick on the paper. I did these for our programs and they look very nice.

buy some ribbon and tie a little bow around the 'fold' before you put them in the envelope.
Have the ink message printed raised maybe. Of course you can punch two holes in the top and tie a bow. I used these envelope seals for my invitations, I got soo many compliments on them: http://www.waxent.com/ I got 150 for about $87. I think there is a smaller size that costs less. There are also some other really pretty envelope seals that are stickers. Anything bulky will mean extra postage so check w/the post office. The wedding themed stamps also add a really pretty touch. Another thing I did to dress mine up was to address them with a gold pen in pretty cursive. You could also use silver. Honestly, though, the simpler your invitations, the more formal they look. These days people are into really flowery, modern designs with photos and everything. Try not to compare your invitations. They are not the most important thing, and I think everyone will just be excited to get one, not thinking that they look plain. Remember the most imporant part of the day, and congratulations!! Hope this helps =)
Nothing. What's so disconcerting is that people think that adding lots of ribbons, colors, and embellishments make an invitation "fancier," when in fact, just the opposite is true. The most formal invitations are issued on plain white stock, and engraved in black.
I would advice that you go to any craft stores near by, maybe michaels or even walmart, buy ribbon and tie it around the invitation, buy really pretty envelopes and put the invitation in the envelope, you could even put a picture of the bride and groom on the invitation to make it look fancy,
Simple and refined may not be "fancy", but actually it is in very good taste. Your description sounds very elegant. If you are skilled at hand-writing, a beautiful hand script in black india ink on creamy-white high-quality paper is considered the most elegant invitation of all. If the papers are standard printer-paper size, you would fold them once so that the silver border and two silver rings run down the right-hand size of the once-folded sheet, and write on the front outer surface of the resulting folio. With so many brides using multi-layer coloured paper Scrapbook-art invitations, your guests will find simple elegance a striking difference.
Hey! The first answer about the bows was great, as was the rhinestone one. Another way to use ribbons (I did this for a client's Bat Mitzvah invitations) Punch two holes on the top of the card (1 inch from the top) and loop a nice ribbon through it, and make a nice sized bow. Here's some pictures to better explain: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_s7QH3ooXoDE/SaDazTCbSUI/AAAAAAAAEgE/tpgrFmtGKF4/s400/blog+making+invitations+013.JPG (The punched holes are on the very top.) http://mulberrytreeinc.com/images/invitation%20with%20bow.jpg (They used a cool/elegant ribbon material.)
