How to convince my mom to let me be homeschooled? Depression/anxiety..?

  • I've been having very bad problems with my depression lately, and I HATE going to school. I just want to go for at least one semester. When i get home from school I'm too depressed to do anything, and homework is due the next day. If I'm homeschooled I would be able to get things done quicker. My mom is concerned and thinks it will worsen my depression because of no social interaction. But at least once every school week me and my friends get together, and on the weekends, I get together with friends anyways. So that won't be a problem. I actually like being alone sometimes. I only want it for the next half of the school year. I live in Los Angeles and there are two systems run by the Los Angeles Unified School District, that allows individual study. We are moving to a different state that summer, which I'm happy for. How should I convince her? Anything that I could trade off? Eg; excersizing more? Please help. I really really really want this..

    I think the problem would be, if you can't interract and work amongst people in a stressful social environment like school, how are you going to cope going to your job every day? Unless you run your own business out of your bedroom when you grow up, it's not going to get any easier.

look for social events around you. Also make sure to exercise more. I'm home schooled and have been for 13 years and am very social.

First off i had that problem too and i stayed in school. my grades slip because of it but ive gotten better. Second before you do anything let your mom know whats going on and why your so depressed (please dont cut ive been there too and it does NOT help) As for the social thing you sond like you have some good friends willing to help you. if so let them. anyways as long as you get out and go with your friends you would be fine. in fact make some friends around your neighborhood :)
