How to improve your communication skills when you have auditory processing disorder?

Hi Jen it is hard when ppl say things especially if what they've said has a double meaning. To help you through particularly tough times, try para-phrasing what they've said back to them & let them confirm what they've said to you, this way they often give you a little more information as well. So if say you get asked out for a coffee just ask back "where did you have in mind to go for a coffee?", or "that's a good idea where's yr favourite coffee place", this will put you on the right track without feeling embarrassed. I know social situations can be difficult. If for some reason you haven't digested what the other person has said especially in a group situation where everyone is talking, just say ":sorry" & you'll find the person will repeat what they've said. I have a legally blind friend that follows me around by looking @ my blonde pony tail, it doesn't look too obvious what's going on, instead of me having to link arms with her & 'lead' her around which she finds embarrassing.
