How do you deal with social anxiety disorder?

How did you build up your self esteem? i might have social anxiety disorder?

  • when i'm around people i get jumpy. i might have this thing called SAD ( social anxiety disorder). if i say i want to do something and people are looking at me if i'm strange i shut my mouth completely like i'm scared to say my opinion's. even if i walk and people are looking at me i react in a way that i can't walk normaly and people would laugh. especially at school like their going to threatening me. but i'm not scared of anybody and i will get in their face. I try to break out of this disorder by trying to talk to other people but people at my school are not open and are snotty. well i'm going to be a senior this year and i want to make more friend's to graduate with. but will it matter if i make friends anyway since i'm going to college? will i be better off if i had a better chance in college?

  • Answer:

you might want to go to a psychiatrist to be evaluated. if sad is what you have, with time, it can be fixed. you'll just have to go to therapy groups for a while.

i think you should pray about it. God is the answer to ALL of my problems and without Him I can't do anything. He can show you the right way to go and everything will work out just fine for you. Seek Him and His Kingdom. as for making friends i think its a good idea, even though you're leaving for college soon its still a good challenge for you, and it'll give you some extra practice with being a "people person" before you get out in the real world. plus having other positive people around you could help boost your self-esteem and take your mind off of whatever else is bothering you :) *the website below may also be able to help you, I suggest you check it out*

U should take a Martial Arts class. It will help u build ur self confidence, and interacting with the other students can help u with ur SAD. Just keep in mind everyone is there to learn and everyone has to start somewhere. U might also want to speak to ur dr about ur SAD. Good luck

Hey :) I have SAD , But I also have bi polar, So it kind of sucks for me. I would say go and talk to the person who sits alone, Or the person who gets teased, they are easier to get on with than people in Cliches :) Just walk confidently, Imagine they aren't there. It will help you in the long run, Socialising is good! Good luck x

Yeah you need to build your self esteem. You need to LOVE people. You need to realize that you matter. EVERY relationship counts. BE friendly. You will ESTEEM yourself more if you work on social skills. Don't be afraid.

CTC is the only person who has a good answer. i took up wrestling, weight training, and bjj and my self esteem has sky rocketed. although im a guy, how bad *** would you feel knowing you can kick the **** outta any guy you want (if you do learn a martial arts). I reccomend learning bjj and wrestling but since classes are limited and hard to find try youtubing tutorials then practice on your own- its also free! also sad acutally stands for seasonal affective disorder so i was a bit confused at first. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seasonal_affective_disorder yes you should make friends dont make up a stupid exucse not to make friends "will it matter if i make friends anyway since i'm going to college?" thats just bringing you down and delaying your happiness. about college, its a clean slate you can be who ever you want and eveyrone (especially frosh) will be looking for friends. itll be like fishing with dynamite lol
