Neonatal nurse description?

Job Description :Psychiatric nurse?

  • If you are a Psychiatric nurse , are you equivalent to a cleaner , just in a psychiatric ward? because My sole purpose for doing it would be to MAINLY work with people , not cleaning toilets and wet beds , I know you have to change sheets and stuff , I just didnt pick Caring assistance because it was mainly cleaning , If I wanted to become a cleaner I would , but I SOLELY want to work with people

  • Answer:

In all of my work as a psychiatric nurse, I have had to clean my own workspace. I have also, voluntarily, assisted behavioral health techs with cleaning floors and walls, and changing linens, when I have had time. Toilets are usually cleaned by housekeeping. Most of a psych nurse's time is spent in paperwork, confiscating contraband, and passing medications. There are occasionally wound treatments and other physical care, some enemas, and so on. Infrequently, you must be involved in a physical intervention. All in all, I think I've spent more time on admission paperwork than on all other tasks combined.

Other answers

Not at all. If you apply for a psych nurse job then you're not just cleaning. Do you mean a health care assistant? or a registered nurse? Because registered nurses have more jobs like administering drugs, but if you are a health care assistant then you will be changing beds, but the majority of work you will be doing is helping people- like feeding, changing and washing, etc
