How to cope with really bad skin?

I have a problem dealing with something I read in the newspaper, can anyone help me cope?

  • Every now and then I come across something in the news that is so horrible that for days I mope around trying to understand it. I'm not religious, but sometimes I feel that the only way I can cope is by believing that there is an after life so that those who suffer are someplace now blissful. The story I came across is controversial because the media did not report on it widely, mostly because the culprits were black and the victims white--in fact that actually received more attention than the crime itself. But regardless of skin color, the crime was one of the most disgusting things I have ever read about and it leaves me shaken and confused and extremely depressed. Does anyone have any ideas how to cope with these kinds of things--what I can do, say to myself, etc.? Anyone else go through this. I just can't imagine a human being having to suffer like this. I do not want to provide you with the link to the news item due to its shocking quality, but if many of you insist I will provide a link. Thanks for you help.

I am not a regular church goer, but I do believe in God and Heaven. I stopped breathing several times as a child. Once I felt myself being cradled, like a baby, but I couldn't see who was holding me. Then my great grandfather told me I had to go back because it wasn't my time yet. There was so much peace and no pain!! I had never before experienced a complete lack of pain. When my time comes, I will not be afraid to go. I too have trouble coping with the problems of the world and I have had to stop watching the endless coverage of things like the earthquake in Haiti. If I can donate, I do. Whether I can donate or not, I pray for them, then I leave it in God's hands and stop staring at it. It may help to get outside and enjoy the sunshine a little bit, it helps me. Also, try to focus on something nearby that is good, like a kitten or butterfly. You are not abandoning the people in trouble, you are keeping yourself together so you can do whatever you can the next time there is a disaster. Take care and may God grant you peace.

I get that way after I hear about a major plane crash. I can't help but wonder about the people on board, people just like me. If I see a photo of some of the victims in the paper for years I can't get them out of my head. But there is something worse about a violent attack like the one you describe where human does something horrific to another human. That's hard to imagine. It's like living a horror movie in real life. I guess just realize that you are not alone in dealing with these things and remember you can't control the world.

Perhaps you can contact the news station and see if there is any way you can volunteer to help the victim(s) of the crime. Or just volunteer to help crime victims in your area. I've found volunteering helps me feel less powerless, and gives me such a wonderful feeling that I am helping my community and making a difference. It more than makes up for all the terrible things I hear about on the news. I am also a claims adjuster - so my work takes me to accident scenes, has me crawling through broken glass and bloody cars, and consoling injured victims of drunk drivers. That was really disturbing to me until I started to volunteer in my spare time.

I don't need to satisfy any morbid curiosity by reading the details. I will say that horrid unbelievable things happen all over the world every day and not every one of them can get reported on world wide. In addition, sometimes the victims families may have enough connection somewhere to get the media not to spread the story and further their grief by having to share it with the world. As far as your problem dealing with it, any decent person would be up set by and disturbed by stories of horrific things done to other humans or animals. The problem is if you don't believe in a higher power and an after life, when horrible things happen it makes it all the more difficult to cope with them. Imagine having no faith and the horrible thing happens to a loved one not just a stranger in the paper? People gain strength through faith and a belief that things happen for a reason even if you can not see the reason now or ever do. I say that, even though we lost my nephew in a tragic way 2.5 yrs ago and as long as I live I will never see any reason why it had to happen...but it's not for me to know. The point is that I have faith, I know he is safe where he is now, I know he suffers no more, he is not frightened, lonely, hurt, or sad and that gives me comfort. In addition, to suggesting you look with in to determine what your faith is in, I also suggest you don't read about or watch stories that are so horrific that you can not live your normal life for days after wards. What purpose does it serve? Did it make your life better? Did it undo the damage? Did it prevent it from occuring again? Is your life any better in any way for having gained this information? The answer to all of these is no, so stop choosing to read and watch these types of media stories.

Think of this. Why do people report the news? If it weren't so shocking, no one would even bother. So just think of that. Perhaps you're reading it too often and finding news stories. However, there were a few times where news stories invoke emotions on me. The first was this woman who smashed her baby's head into a table so badly that it actually broke the table. Then she made her boyfriend cover it up and toss it in the garbage. The reason? Cause the little girl caused her to drop her dope that she spent all her money on. The second would be the story of those blackwaters guy in Iraq. I still can't get the imagine of them hanging the burning mutilated bodies of those blackwaters guy up on the bridge. So yeah, news can invoke emotions, that's why they report them. If it were "minor" then no one would care.

I think I know what it was you read. Did it take place in Knoxville, Tenn. a few years ago and is only now making the rounds in the blogs becauase how shocking the crime and how deliberately the media tried to cover it up due to the races involved?

It is only natural for person nature to wish for an attractive appearance. Walking towards the path of natural beauty is not difficult if you really desire for it. You need to regulation yourself to reach that glow on your face. If you think availing the natural beauty products will be instrumental for achieving the best skin, best hair or the best body, then you are wrong.

My advice to you Jenna is to stop reading or watching the news. When I go weeks without waching TV or reading news on the Internet, I feel so much better. Sometimes I don't even know why until I realize I have been busy and haven't read the news in a while.
