I would like some information.

I feel like something is stopping my ability to process information...help?

  • from math to basic decision making, even trying to find something. sorry for the wall of text but im begging for peoples help on this, its something that has been happening my whole life. It's like my brain gears have rust on them haha, except that this has been like this my entire life, i grasp concepts very well when it comes to math problems i feel like within 10 minutes i could do it back wards and what teachers are teaching is obscenely easy. Sadly my brain likes to disagree, i know i know it, and it makes so much sense, but when i come right down to doing almost any task it's like my brain has to remember 1+1=2 like im relearning like a toddler until it sluggishly makes sense of what i knew in the first place. The moment i learn something it's like all basic logic is lost, after learning how to fire pottery its almost as if i have to ask whether the clay has to go into a kiln and get confirmation from the teacher every tiny step of the way. making the teacher sluggishly go step by step, and even after she does i'll make hundreds of tiny mistakes that are basic logic. When i encountered a problem in my elementary school life i would ignore it and make myself forget it almost and i was a horrible child in my elementary school years, still to the point i forget them with sucess. Did i somehow give myself short term meory as a child? and almost completely forget the basics? did i repress my learning and reasoning process somehow? i understand everything right off the bat, but then when i try to apply it to paper its like pushing a cart up hill...1+1 ...puuuuuuush...2+2...puuuuuuuuush....fi… result....that should of taken me seconds???

  • Answer:

I'm sure you know that it is impossible to give an accurate diagnosis on this forum. There are too many questions that need to be asked and evaluated in order to do that. Just based on what you have stated in your post, I would suspect that a mental health professional might like to test you for ADHD. By the way, I have a diagnosis of ADHD myself but managed to be very successful professionally once it was diagnosed and treated.
