Do I have a sleeping disorder?

Sleeping disorder at 20?

  • Hi, Wonder if anyone can help me. I am a 20 year old female, and I have a weird sleeping problem. My boyfriend tells me that in my sleep in the middle of the night, I do weird things, like talk, cry, shake, make funny noises, and sometimes even grab him or act like I'm biting him. I never remember any of it, so am obviously in my deepest stage of sleep. I have nightmares almost every night. My boyfriend says that he has woken me from it a few times, but I don't remember anything before waking up, just wonder why I'm sitting up or whatever and how I got into whatever position I'm in. I have heard about a problem called RBD sleep disorder, when your body is usually paralyzed in the deepest stage of sleep (REM) yet if you have this disorder, it's not paralyzed, and you "act out" your dreams. Apparently it's common in middle-aged men. Why would I have this in my age as a young woman? Very scared to even fall asleep now. Anyone know what's wrong with me? Do I have this disorder? And what ever can I do to cure it??

  • Answer:

Go to a doctor or put a divider up in your bed so, your boyfriend can get some sleep.
