What to do when Painting a Motorcycle?

Painting my motorcycle plastics ?

  • Right ive got a Peugeot XPS Enduro style bike, its got a few factory stickers on. How do i go around painting them so they look professional, ive sprayed my exhaust black and that came out nice with no drop's. P.S ill be using rattle cans (the cans with the little ball bearing in NO spray guns or compressed guns). - ill remove all stickers from plastics, and rub the sticky residue left behind off. use wet and dry sanding paper all over to bring the surface up then what ? also what do i put on at the end of the process to make them shiny. Thanks for any questions and also i know it will decrease the value of the bike i am aware :) note: any websites to spray paints off or coatings i will be very grateful. Thanks :)

Professional is always best but if you insist on trying and screw it up a professional can still fix it. There are some new spray paints specifically made for plastics by Rustoleum. You can choose a type that will come out shiny without any additional coating. Clear coats have a tendency to fail when exposed to regular sunlight so skip that.

I rattle-canned an old Vespa once. No matter how careful you are and how much prep you put into it, you will NOT be happy with the results. Save your pennies and hire it done.
