Sprocket change - motorcycle speedometer?
-
Ive had a Suzuki gz250 for a while now and ive heard about people changing the stock 15t front sprocket to a 16t sprocket. My question is, would u have to calibrate the speedometer or does it do it by itself.

Answer:
speedo drive is on the front wheel... so will not be affected by sprocket changes.. http://www.bikebandit.com/2003-suzuki-gz250/o/m6282#sch505533

On most motorcycles the speedometer is driven from the front wheel, thus changing sprockets will have no effect.
NO< the 2 are separate systems, engine speed and gearing does not effect MPH. Adding 1 tooth to the front sprocket will increase accelerartion but reduce Top speed and MPG.
