Gas leaking from carburetor?

Why is my kx 250 leaking gas from the carburetor?

  • I have a kx 250 1998...i opened up my carb to clean it. I put everything back together the way it was and then installed it on the bike..then i turned on the gas line. and i see gas coming out from the carburetor. i opened it up and checked if my floaters were stuck.the floaters were fine.I just don't know what could be the problem. I would appreciate you guys helping me out so i could go back to riding again.

  • Answer:

The float may be fine (provided you are measuring them correctly), but the float needle valve may not be operating correctly. Those symptoms almost always mean that there is a problem with the floats.

Put the float needle back in and hold it down with ur finger and blow in the fuel nipple to make sure the needle is seating right. If any air gets by, the lil rubber o-ring is bad. The kits are cheap. And is the float a solid foam or hollow? Sometimes they get a pin hole or cracked and will fill with fuel and sink, therefor filling the bowl till the overflow starts dumpin money all over the ground.... Email me if either dont work!
