  • Answer:

simple, wire a relay to the ignition wire, and wire the radar detector to the relay, Now for the important question, where are you mounting the radar detector so you can see/hear it but the officer won't?

just install a cigarette lighter and plug the detector into that. mount the detector on the front fender maybe.

Wire it into your head light circuit.

Where I live, radar detectors are banned, and the police can detect them. If you are pulled over with one, there is a big fine ($500, I thnk) for having it, and the unit is permanently impounded. If it is concealed, and you don't immediately turn it over, they tow the bike away, tear it apart until they find it, give you a bill for the work, and leave your bike in pieces--and they aren't necessarily careful in their methods of dis-assembly! If riding in a group, and nobody admits to having the detector, they'll take all the bikes and do this until they find it. As a result, NOBODY uses detectors around here (Ontario, Canada).
