What is the spark plug gap setting for this bike please?

There is something wrong with my dirt bike's spark plug.?

  • for one thing its an ktm 85. i have fresh mixed gas, fresh plug, jets are clean, float bowl is good, air filter and everything is perfect. but it wont start.? it is nothing i have seen before. my spark plug is having a spark come through the plug to the boot and you can legitimately see the electricity go from the plug to the boot when i kick it and when it revved on high end (when it used to start). my plug has a nice blue spark and it is deffinetly getting gas. but there seems to be something wrong with the boot or either the coil. my dad says it may be the flywheel key that i sheered off. but i don't think so. it may also be my kill switch getting shorted out. but i don't think because when i put my plug against the engine i am getting a spark. i am confused, my dad is confused, and my bike shop is confused. it was running like crap before but i think the jets were clogged. but after the night i rode it i woke up to start it and it didn't start. we tried starting fluid also. please help me

  • Answer:

Your dad may be right, sheered flywheel-key. All the spark in the world doesn't do much if at the wrong time and that would do it.

If the bike shop is confused and they are actually decent it is time for process of elimination. Check/Test each suspect until all are ruled out of the problem is found. Doesn't sound like the spark plug if it is seated properly.
