How do you make your own fabric prints?

What would be a good way to attach fabric to matboard?

  • Ok so I'm thinking of selling some prints of mine and I'm planning on going for a very indie/vintage look in my art. Originally, I was thinking of just mounting my prints on mat board and that be the finished look, but I started wondering about if I should make the frame surrounding the print a bit more creative. I came up with the idea to attach some fabric with a lot of texture (like burlap or something) around the edges but I have no idea how I would attach it. I don't think I could sew it on because the mat board is quite thick so my next option would be glueing. However, I don't know of a clear strong glue that would be good for this. I've heard a lot of things about Mod podge but I've only heard of using that for paper collages. Do you think mod podge would be able to do this type of job? if not, what would you guys recommend?

  • Answer:

Spray adhesive goes in much more evenly and neatly.
