Can you scrub clay off a mug?

Any suggestions on how to make clay mug tougher?

I will be curious to what answers you get This is not as tough as you want but it is basic knowledge A cup fired to cone 06 is not normally as strong as one fired to cone 04 A cup fired to cone 04 is not as strong as one fired to cone 6 Cone 10 is the normal practical limit for firing cups Different clays literally melt at different temperatures. If low fire clay goes into a high fire kiln It will be a mess with the melted clay destroying shelves, heating elements, and other peoples work Thicker rims and handles help add strength but make the piece more prone to cracks during drying and firing I am curious to what answers you will get

OH come on...just buy a plastic mug. There is always some risk of breakage in pottery but it feels better than plastic.
