Photography vs. Photography and Design.

How can I make more money with photography and graphic design?

  • I'm a second year photography student at the moment and have the enough experience with graphic design and photography to get a job done. One appeal to potential clients is that since I lack some credentials (that i'm currently working towards) I charge cheaper than the professionals but still nearly meet professional quality. My only problem is getting my name out and finding work. For example, if a realtor or homeowner wants home photography for cheap to sell their home, how could I find that? I live within my means and I'm looking for a way to lessen college debt by gaining enough money to invest so that when I'm out of school, I have an easier time with the mounting debt.

It's a challenge. You have to be creative in your methods. It really helps to spread the word among friends. Realtors are pretty cheap so you may struggle on that end however if you go to a high end agency and do one or two homes for free it might lead to some work. It's hard to turn down people face to face, it's very easy to ignore an ad. Try to get in and see people. Good luck

When I started my business I made a facebook page, a flickr, and a webpage on wix.com, I started doing photo shoots for cheap with friends and they started spreading the word for me :) basically just do anything you can to get known in your area. you could try putting flyers up around town.
