How Do I Advertise My Contest?

• I volunteered this year to coordinate the photography contest in our small town spring festival because last year no one could organize it there was no contest and I and many others were disappointed. So since I am the coordinator I need to write an ad for the local paper to advertise the competition, I'm just not sure what to write. Id like to make it fun and welcoming to everyone, better than just some boring ad about who, what, where, when and why. Of course it would need to include these things but I would like it to be in a fun creative way...any help would be great. The name of our festival is Tulip Time. Creative writing is not something that I do much of...I mostly just take pictures. Any constructive help is welcome! Thank you in advance!

  How much space do you have? Is it a two-line classified ad or a quarter page or more? Is it a well-known event? Or do you have to tell your readers what it is? The good news is that announcing the contest with a summary of the rules, deadlines, categories, and prizes will be sufficient to gather interest among photographers who think that they have something to offer. Photographers are always looking for opportunities to show their stuff and maybe win a prize. If you're looking to get maximum interest, then some marketing might be in line. But that's only if you want also to draw people who don't have much to offer or who aren't very skilled.
