Best way to print black and white photos?

Easy way to print photos from negatives?

  • Is there an easier way to print your own pictures from negatives using a darkroom but not having to buy all the expensive equipment? I don't care if the prints turn out really badly, just experimenting.

  • Answer:

Buy yourself a scanner capable of scanning negatives (it must have a light in the lid). The Epson V330 is cheap and cheerful and will scan 35mm negatives and slides quite happily to a good quality. They retail for under £100. Very good value. It can also double as a normal scanner as it's a flatbed. Once scanned, adjust the colour in photoshop, scans often mis represent the colours in negatives due to the orange mask. Slides are usually ok. Once you are happy with it, print it out on a good quality paper with a good quality inkjet printer. Done.

Yes (without the darkroom) buy a slide / negative converter to load images to your computer than edit and print them from their. Much cheaper, faster and cleaner than running a darkroom. Look on Amazon.com for the different types of slide converters. Than you can buy local or online.

I found this on my Twitter feed a few minutes ago. Haven't tried it myself, but if you've got developed film you want to make prints from it might work for you. http://www.petapixel.com/2011/07/25/how-to-scan-film-using-your-phone-or-tablet-computer/
