What is this photography website?

What do I need to do to start a photography website?

  • I'm looking into getting information together to start a photography website. My husband is wanting to start a website since his freelance photography has picked up. I personally do not know a lot about photography, so if I ask something that seems silly, then please forgive me. Here's some background...he has shot some weddings, engagement photos, other family portraits...as well as tons of wildlife and nature. He has software that allows him to edit and publish photos, and he has people interested in purchasing his photos. So, he needs a website for people to be able to go to and look at his portfolio, read about his information and pricing, and purchase prints if they so desire. I think a big part of what he is wanting for the website is to be able to place photos that are taken for specific customers in an album with a password so that they can be protected, but available for the customers to view. I have looked at godaddy.com for domain names, and I have looked at several web hosting services, like ipage and inmotion. I am looking for any and all advice. My husband doesn't know I am doing all this, I am trying to get some information together for him to surprise him. Thanks!

I can't stress this first part enough Get A Website Designer otherwise your webpage will look like an operating system from the 80's. also if there any good at all they will be able to set up an account system for your clients to have online access to their albums, the photographer here does senior photos for highschiols and they have that on their site although I would imagine it can get pricey. Get one, meet then on Person and let then know how you want it. These guys will make the webpage attractive but they aren't cheap so keep that in mind. But the main thing you need on the webpage for business is a way to contact your husband and then show some portfolios of events and projects he has done (his best work) and have some ballpark pricing listed. That's what I see on most designer and photographer sites. Hope I helped
