  • I'm Jessica, i'm a artist. Last year in 7th grade i wont 7 awards in art in the clark county school district ( las vegas nevada) I entered 3 contest wont 2 first place and 1 best over all with a few other people. Got a award from my teacher at the end of the school year awards , i was the only on in my class to get this and it was for "Advance art 2011" and i wont first place in 3rd grade back in new york from my school. I got my 2 first place awards in a calender one for may and one June and front cover. ( I KNOW I SOUND CONCEDED BUT I'M JUST TELLING YOU MY RESUME! ) i have kinda good grades.... all b's and a c this year :/ But my art teacher for 6th and 7th grade left my school and they wont have art this year! Andi want to get into a magnet school with a good art program. and i was wondering if it would affect my chance, even with my resume. This school also like lets 500 people in a year! • Answer:

Does this school require a portfolio? Your art will speak for itself, and these schools mostly just want to see that you have talent. They might want to see your most recent work. There's nothing stopping you from continuing to draw even if you have no art class for 8th grade (which sucks). :( I loved art class in high school. I wouldn't worry about it. If you really want to continue drawing and improve your art, you can take art classes outside of school. Get your parents to sign you up for a drawing course somewhere. There are also many tutorials online, like youtube for example. Those awards already say something about your potential, so I definitely think you have a chance. Put forth your best work and have confidence! Good luck! :) Nice artwork, btw!

What school you go to doesn't matter if you have or don't have an art class. The just want to see how well you can draw and see what you understand. If you can do that, then they will take you. Your pretty good artist I shall say. You have a lot of potential and I can see your practicing the fundamentals so all you need to do is keep on improving. But if you want someone to teach you, more than what you think you don't know you can find an art class somewhere or join a site online where people can critique you. Either deviantart.com, or if your more serious conceptart.org. You seem like you can handle constructive criticism by the way you draw.
