How can I make a tshirt I'm writing on with sharpie not look bad? Stencils?

When you write with Sharpie on a tshirt it looks cluttered, or tacky. How can I make it look good? Stencils? Should I use a ruler to make it look evened out? Or a special kind of writing sharpie for tshirts?

Something REALLY cool we did back in high school was bought stencils and used a can of black spray paint, than spelled out the letters we wanted and sprayed the stencils with black spray paint. It makes a really even look as well as just making it look really epic!

Unfortunately there is no way right now. Sharpies bleed. Even with a ruler or tape. Believe me I have tried! That is where the tacky look comes from. Depending on what you are doing you may want to get fabric paint, it is cheap you can get it at Wal-Mart for about $2.68 and it comes in lots of colors.

You write on your T shirts? Why not get a T shirt that's decent in the first place?
