What should I do to select ANIMATION as my career?

• I plan on a career in animation whether it's 2-D or 3-D. Right now I'm taking classes in Computer Animation for my BA in Computer Animation, but I'm also really good at drawing as well. The thing is that I have a hard time coming up with creative original ideas. I'm more of an artist that is good at replicating other peoples work or drawing something that is already in front of me. Tell me to draw a specific scene, you can place that scene in front of me an I can do it, but tell me to come up with something on the spot, that's when I struggle. Do any of you guys know any jobs in the Animation industry that would hire a person that is good at replicating something that is in front of him as a drawing or on a computer? I'm really worried that not being able to come up with things on the spot will stop me from having an animation career.

  I think that if you get a job with an animation company you wouldn't have any problems. If you worked for Disney or Nickelodeon or companies like that you wouldn't be made to come up with the ideas. It's only if you were to try to do freelance work or market your own videos that would need your own ideas. Even if you worked for a marketing company and they wanted you to animate a commercial you would probably just be animating a storyboard that someone else came up with. So I don't think you'll have any problems.
