How can i make my images on flickr direct?

How can I make my art on a computer?

  • I know people take images off Google and turn them into things, but isn't it copyright infringement to take a random image, turn it into something, and then sell it? Say I wanted to turn this image into a pendant: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3590/3282962291_0bed7fc986.jpg If I took the image of Google or Flickr, and I made it into a pendant and sold it, isn't that copyright infringement since I didn't take the picture myself? And if it is, how can I make an image like that on my computer? (I have a Mac.)

  • Answer:

Yes - I see whole web pages copied and the owners take credit for them. That is just plain wrong. And, if you copy the wrong image or text, you could be taken to court. It's a small world. If you really like a design like that, find other images of the butterfly... (It is a Sooty Orangetip.) http://www.nature-of-oz.com/pieridae1.htm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sooty_Orange_Tip http://www.boker.org.il/meida/negev/desert_biking/butterflies/guide/lavnin_midbari.htm ...and make a drawing/design of your own. You could use the same background color (which goes nicely with the white and orange). Don't steal other artist's designs or photos. With a little bit of work you could come up with a better design than that one for your pendant with no worries about stealing something from someone else. If you really like that stamp. find one, buy it, put in plexiglass or something, and mount it on a pendant somehow. There are a number of very good graphic design software packages available for a Mac: Illustrator and Photoshop are two of them. And, there are a number of good free graphic design software packages available: InkScape, Gimp, Paint.Net

Well did the owner put copyright to it? If so, then yes! If not then it's ok! Just give credit.. You can use PaintBrush which you can download for free or GIMP for free. You download different types of "brushes" Also Photoshop!

I think that it would only violate the copyright if its not manipulated enough to a certain degree.. Its okay to use others pictures if your own version is far enough from the original, that it doesn't resemble as much any longer.. If you wanted to make a pendant out of that stamp, it would for example be a violation of the copyright if you just took that image as it is, as it looks as a stamp with a butterfly, and make it into a pendant.. But if you only took the butterfly for example, I think it would be okay if you made a paraphrase of it yourself, because in theory you could have seen that butterfly yourself and drawn it... Just don't let the original art be too original. I'm not entirely sure though, also because the copyright law can variate from country to country, and where I live (Denmark), the copyright law is something like that. What comes to making art on the computer, I will recommend Photoshop :) You can try a 30 days free trial, buy it, or be a pirate and steal it ;) (With that, I of cause mean downloading a cracked version) .. GIMP is also a nice alternative to Photoshop, and is completely free.
