How do I animate manga from my computer?

What is a good computer drawing program for anime and manga styled art?

  • hello im learning how to draw anime and manga since i love it so much! I decided to buy a tablet and now im searching for a good program to draw anime/manga on. I need something very easy to use, since im a beginner drawing on paper and digitally. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

  • Answer:

DO NOT USE PHOTOSHOP. It's not made with drawing in mind, it was created for photo manipulation and is not worth the price. I recommend downloading GIMP (it's absolutely free) and practicing there before doing anything else. GIMP also isn't made with drawing in mind, but there are layers, it works with your tablet's pen pressure, and you can customize your tools. I use GIMP though because the program is free and nearly like Photoshop. Once you get used to using your tablet, a program designed for manga creation is Manga Studio Debut 4. I'm debating on getting that, but I'm torn between that and Paint Tool SAI. Many people on DeviantArt use Paint Tool Sai and their works are absolutely gorgeous. Paint Tool SAI also has a special feature where it smooths and corrects you line work when it is wiggly and jagged. That would have save me a TON of hours drawing. I also heard people talking about Paint.NET, but I've still yet to look into that. ;) Hope I helped!

Well... if you want something you don't care about price with, you can get Manga Studio. That's what I use, and its pretty good. Or, if you want something free, you can get GIMP. That's mainly used as photo editing software, but I use it to darken drawing lines and color it. It's pretty easy to use. And even if you don't completely get how to there are tutorials everywhere. Within a couple hours you will know how to work it perfectly. (Congratulations on getting a tablet. I LOVE mine. Good luck on drawing! ^^ )

Adobe Photoshop. It's costly, but it's simple to use the different layers and brush styles, and when you get really good, there's all sorts of stuff you can do with it. There's also Manga Studio and Anime Studio from SmithMicro. I've got it, not used it much... Prefer photoshop.
