What is the best way to get a job in communications?

What job could I get if I'm only good at drawing women?

  • I just started my visual communications courses at college but, after 5 weeks, I realized the fact I'm not cut out for this at all. It's for the elite eons past my skill. I'm not good at anything but, for some reason my teachers think otherwise (well, except one). I think out of the box like the other kids. I get "passing" grades but, I know my work is crap and I'm stressing out over our new project. Not to mention, I can't afford top notch supplies like the rich students here with their fancy Macs, iPads, and iPhone 4S. The only thing I'm half a quarter of an iota decent at is drawing girls. My teachers are impressed by them but, I know they're lying. Is there any way to get a job with that if what they say is actually true?

  • Answer:

Your teachers probably know more than you about art, so i'd listen to their opinions. You shouldn't expect to be super-hot at something straight away - when you get to college you're studying with the top 2-3% of people in the country, after all. Regards the job front, it depends on what you're thinking of doing. If you sit on a street corner drawing girls for money, you'll probably get some custom. If you work as an artist, it depends on whether you sell any of your work to people and whether it's liked or not. I assume, though, that you're talking about graphic design for some firm or other. That's highly competitive, and it might not help your case that you don't have access to some of the computer design kit your course-mates do. Without seeing your portfolio, it's hard to judge. your tutors might be able to tell you more, but you don't seem to trust them. there's not really an easy answer.

if you are a sketch artist, you could prolly do portraits. listen to your professors they would have no reason to lie, they are here to help you advance in whatever subject. if you are interested in art then i would go to a trade school for it.

First, I have NEVER heard of any art course where part of the required supplies would include an iPhone 4s. I think that, here, you are just venting and angry about not having as much disposable income as some other people. What kinds of jobs?" flipping burgers selling tires sweeping theater seats telemarketing bicycle messenger distributing flyers The opportunities are nearly endless for someone who is not really interested in applying oneself to learning new skills. After all, if one can't learn a lifelong skill within five weeks, it just ain't worth it. Give up and pick up one of these other careers that won't take longer than five weeks to learn: taxicab driving restaurant waiter dishwasher Walmart greeter dumpster diving javelein catcher mushroom harvester abalone poacher cannery sorter school janitor etc. etc.
