  There are three kinds of true 3D; only two can be used on TV and computer monitors. The "primitive" kind is where the two images are in different colors, and so are the lenses in the glasses. The resulting picture is, in my view, pathetic, because all the colors are distorted. Different producers use different colors, so the lens colors have to match the projection colors. This makes it difficult to make the glasses yourself. The second method is using active glasses, where the two images are alternately flashed on the screen, and the lenses in the glasses alternately allow and block so that the left eye only sees the left image and the right only the right. The glasses are activated by the TV or video signal itself. Colors and brightness are true. The third method, used in movie theaters, is to project the two images through crossed Polaroid filters onto the screen. The glasses have Polaroid lenses, which, when turned 90 degrees to that of the projector filter, block out the image. So the right lens blocks out the left image, and vice-versa. The resulting 3D image is a bit darker than a normal movie, but the colors are true.
