What does it take to go to art college?

  • Hello, I am 15 years old. I decided that I want to go to art school in the future. For all those who went to art school before (Or still going to art school), what does it take to go to an art college? How can I prepare? Any skills? Computer programs? Or maybe even give me some projects to do? Thanks!

    You have to be very good at drawing. This is a craft: if you aren't you can get good enough by practicing it. You have to be mature. Rhode Island School of Design, where I have friends (on staff) say they prefer transfer students to people coming out of high school. That is you don't have to get in there before you are twenty or something. A school worth going to will be horribly expensive AND it will work your bottom off -- one of my teachers told us he started off studying economics but decided Art was easier. And he was VERY wrong about that.

i am also aiming to go to an art school..first off, you have to be good at drawing. in order to get better, you must practice daily or whenever possible. Create your own style and draw from life. If you do this, and join an art class at your school, it is very likely that you'll get accepted to an art school :)
