Macbook pro or macbook air?
-
so i need to get a new computer and im completely torn on which one to get! ive done a lot of research and i still dont know. im a student in high school and id be bringing my computer to school probably a few times a week, not everyday though. I mostly would just bring it to school, then otherwise i use it at home at my desk. I mainly use my computer for the internet a lot, Ichat, Mail, itunes, and word documents because i am a student. which computer do you think is best for me? out of everyone who has macs in my school, the vast majorrity has macbook pro and not many have the air so idk a big downside of the air i found was there not being a CD/DVD port. i am debating between either the 13 inch macbook air, 13 inch macbook pro, or 15 inch macbook pro. thanks so much

Answer:
Get a 13" or 15" Macbook Pro with an SSD in it. If that's not an option, get the 13" Macbook air, as it comes with an SSD standard. For longevity, speed, and reliability, an SSD is literally the most important factor when buying a laptop. Not the i5/i7 CPU, not the aluminum casing, not the RAM. No, the hard drive is the first thing to always fail, and when you get a solid state hard drive (SSD) instead of a normal, cheap mechanical one, you get a hard drive that's essentially bombproof (able to withstand 100s of Gs, or a really hard hit against a concrete wall), reliable, and 2 orders of magnitude times (100x) faster than a normal hard drive. I've seen TONS of 13" hard drives slow down/lag/fail, but I've NEVER seen a 13" Air skip a beat. By the way, you can always buy an external USB DVD drive if you really want one. Hell, you can even get a blu-ray player/burner for watching HD movies and burning backups. By the way, if you're considering non Apple alternatives at all, I would literally kill for this notebook. http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-LG-XNOTE-P330-UE40K-2-4GHz-13-3-laptop-i5-2435M-GeForce-GT-555M-4GBDDR-/320881254966?pt=Laptops_Nov05&hash=item4ab6036236#ht_1716wt_1139 Korea only, and it's hardware simply out of the Macbook Pro's league. Those specs in a portable 13" frame are INSANE. I know it's not a likely choice, but there's no harm in throwing it out there :) EDIT: Also, I own a 15" laptop I use for school. I find it clunky and difficult to carry around: go for a 14" or smaller if you intend to carry a laptop around. And that LG looks sick. Just sayin.

I recommend you to get a Macbook Air if you just want to go to school and do your work and facebook and stuff like that. If you want to watch movies, go home and watch it at T.V because it has an even bigger screen which is better. Macbook Pro's are heavy to carry. That is the downside of it. Plus,it is very bulky. But if you are a business person then I recommend you Macbook Pro. Macbook Air has a 13.3 inch screen which is good for bringing it to school already as a 15 inch might be too big for the bag. The good thing about Mac's is they do not get viruses. If you do buy a Macbook Air, I suggest you upgrade it to OS X Lion.

I suggest that you get a MacBook air. They are easier to carry around and they litterally feel as light as frisbees. However The MacBook pro is Sort of clunkly.
Audrey!
