What should I do for my 25th birthday?

  • I will be turning 25 in 3 weeks (Single male). After a week of planning and a very small budget. I am undecided between Las vegas, Atlantic City or Skiing in the Poconos. My budget is $500-$600. I have 4 friends who are willing to tag along whatever I choose and need to know what my plans are so they could save and take off from work. Poconos: I have never been and always wanted to try snowboarding, skiing and boarding. Getting away from the hustle and bustle of NYC can be rewarding. However, I have no experience being on the mountains and plan to rent a log cabin while up there. Prices for the cabins start $400 for a 3 day weekend excluding skii/board rentals, passes and entertainment. The downside is there is virtually no nightlife I discovered from my research. Also, I am not into country music or live rock bands...This is bad since after a day of skiing in the cold, partying till 4am would be a nice end cap and since I am young, I am very huge on nightlife/ Atlantic City: Great city, inexpensive food and shopping. (possibly free or discounted rooms from friend who gambles frequently) Downside: not a large variety of clubs or bars. Everything is mainly based on the casinos. Very small entertainment radius. May not be ideal for 3 or more days unless you're gambling. Las Vegas: Shows, food, casinos, clubs, women and its Vegas. Plus I have never been... (possibly free or discounted rooms from friend who gambles frequently) Downside:limited budget I would like to make a decision today. Thanks!! PS. Any other ideas will be appreciated as well.

Firstly it sounds like you have enough money. Go to Poconos because it sounds like you really want to go! and you are young enough to enjoy it. Atlantic City and Las Vegas work well when you are turning 50 as well. Now regarding the price - do not go on the weekend see if you can go during the weekday and perhaps get a crazy price. (maybe Sunday or Friday included) Unless your birthday is on a Saturday! To party - night life - plan a taxi or limo or a designated driver to a near by town - with crazy nightlife. Have fun!
