Aggressive Mini Lop Rabbit?

What breed is my rabbit? Holland lop or Mini lop?

  • Hi I have a precious little bunny and I have had him for a year now. I have aways wondered what type of rabbit breed he is. He has the lopped ears and short stocky like body. But his face looks like a mixture of both. The idiots at the store said he was a 'Netherland Dwarf rabbit' but he's very far away it...I have had people say he is a Mini lop and others say Hollan lop. Could he be a mixture of both?

  • Answer:

he very well could be a mixture, but if he has a kinda mushed in face he is probably a hollond lop. also if he is more than 5 lbs he is a mini lop

How large is he? Holland lops are very small, at under 4 pounds maximum. Mini Lops are a bit larger, usually between 4.5 and 6.5 pounds- most will be towards the higher end of that range. And yes, he could be a mixture of multiple breeds.

If he is from a pet store, it is unlikely you will ever know with certainty. He could be a mix of anything. You can look at the ARBA website as someone suggested to get an idea. Holland Lops have shorter ears and are smaller.

Here is a web site showing pictures of all the breeds of rabbits. Note that the breeds can vary in color. You can click on the pictures to learn more about the particular breed. Look at them and see which one best fits the description of your rabbit. Website: http://www.arba.net/Breeds.htm
