I dont know the best way to convince my parents to let me get a ferret.?

Kaly, I was in the very same position not too long ago. My friend got a ferret and I fell in love with the animal instantly. I begged my mom for months to consider. I reasoned with her, listed all the pros and cons. Turns out she wasn't against getting one, we just don't have the space right now. First, find out why your parents are reluctant to buy you a ferret. That's where you need to start. For example, if the reason they don't want a ferret is because they have an odor, you can tell them that one, it's not that horrible of a smell. In fact some people grow to like it. Two, there are several ways to combat the musky smell. Having your ferret fixed alone reduces the majority of it. On top of that, you can have them litter trained. Litter helps absorb some of the pee and poop smell. There's drops you can put in their water to also help eliminate waste odor, regular washing of the bedding, cage and accessories and ferret. Sparingly with the ferret, though. They have sensitive skin. Always use gentle shampoo (preferably especially made for ferrets). Number three, the cage will be located in your room. It's not like it'll be in the living room. Therefore, the odor wouldn't be lingering throughout the house. Have you done your research? I was absolutely infatuated with finding out as much information about ferrets as I possibly could. Then I had the idea of putting all that knowledge to good use and wrote my mom a research paper. I gave her some general information about ferrets, why they make wonderful pets and why having one would work for us. At the end I addressed questions and concerns, which helped her 'see them in a new light' I guess you could say. Do you keep up with current responsibilities? Along with convincing, proving to your parents that they can trust you with another responsibility plays a big role too. Clean your room, do the dishes, take out the trash, etc. Whatever it is that you do, do it WITHOUT being asked. No whining! When talking to your parents about getting a ferret, always present your case maturely, even if they aren't responding positively or in your favor. Don't get discouraged, and don't press TOO too much. Forcing the subject onto them will most likely push them AWAY from the idea of getting a ferret. Just drop it for a little while and pick it back up another day. Again, don't overwhelm them, but be persistent. Hope this helps!
