How to take care of the baby bunny?

  • i found a baby bunny today outside in a park area, the mother or othe bunnies were not around, it was alone hiding in a corner of a building. its eyes are all the way open and it can walk around a little bit but not with alot of strength, i read to feed it kitten formula but i am not sure, i tried to feed it that with a baby animal bottle and it would not take it, it kept sucking around like it was looking for a nipple with milk. what can i feed it? what would you suggest? what else should i do to keep it healthy?

    Sounds like the Mother has been around, I would go outside and put him back where you found him and watch from afar to see if the mother comes back. If you are concerned call the spca.

LEAVE IT ALONE. The mama may be out of your site, but knows where her babies are. Call the ASPCA or animal control!!!

A lot of people make this mistake. They don't see a mom around and immediately think they are abandoned etc...but in fact the mom is around just not with her kits because rabbits only visit their nest once a day. The kit is old enough to be nibbling on timothy hay and pellets. Just use KM-R and use a Syringe not a bottle. The chances are that the kit will not make it but since it seems pretty old there's a chance it might. Use a syringe once a day and put the kit in a box filled with hay. Put timothy hay in it and pellets and a water bottle. That should do and just feed it the syringe for a week or two. Best of luck , Ali
