How do you get fleas out of your house?

How can I get rid of fleas in my house and on my pets?

  • I live in a house of 4 people: me ( i'm a 19 year old college student home for the summer), my mother, and 2 brothers who are always moving in and out. we have 3 family pets. 2 cats and a dog. that live with my mother and I. and my one brother has a dog and the other has another cat. everyone is in the house right now so there are a total of 5 animals. Somehow one of the animals got fleas and brought them into the house. Now we have a blown out epidemic. the animals are covered in fleas and now they're starting to bite us too. we've tried frontline, flea bombs, flea collars, everything. and we cant get rid of them. What do we do?????

    The same thing happened to my family and I last year! Its a lot of work, but it will get rid of the fleas: 1. Vacuum. Every single day. Wherever your pets go, you vacuum. This sucks up the fleas and the eggs. 2. Bathe your pets twice a week This removes fleas and eggs from the fur 3. Days that you dont bathe them, comb their fur with a flea comb. Dip fleas and eggs that come out into a cup of bleach. Bleach kills them. KEEP UP WITH THE ROUTINE!! Every day that you dont do these steps, the problem will get WORSE Hope this helps! ~meg<3 p.s. there is a wives tale that if you leave a pan of lemon juice under a single light on the floor at night, you will wake up and there will be tons of dead fleas in the pan. Try it!

for animals:in the bathtub, wet your pet with warm water( not to hot or not to cold) and use the original Dawn soap.put on the animals and rub it good.leave it on the animals for about 5 min. it will kill the eggs, larva and flea.after 5 min, rinse off the soap well and dry them off with a towel or hair dryer. make sure the air coming out is not too hot or not too cold.after, brush them with a brush that you use for them. for house: clean your house very well. vacuum very well and also in corners. if you have rugs, wash them with hot soapy water for 20 min.dry them with hot heat for 20 min. continue until fleas are completely gone. hope it works! :)

For yourselves, use Avon's Skin so soft. It will repel fleas. As for the household, try DCE. It is a fine crystal like glass from ancient sea creatures. You can find it in natural pet stores. Sprinkle it under furniture, along the edges of the floor/wall, under pet bedding. Wear a mask when sprinkling it. If inhaled, it may injure your lungs. It will dry out the fleas, larvae, and eggs. Vacuum after a week. Take the contents out every time you vacuum. Fleas can lay eggs in the contents and crawl out of the vacuum. Try Adam's flea dip for the animals. It smells like aromatic orange- wear gloves. The smell is hard to get off hands. Suggest long sleeve shirts and gloves for the cat. Watch out! There is a product that you can spray in the yard to get rid of fleas. Other things you can use is eucalyptus scents which fleas hate.
