What supplies do I need to take care of a couple of hedgehogs + BQ?

  • Hi Everyone :-) I'm hoping to adopt a couple of hedgehogs and I want to know what supplies I'll need. I am looking to breed so if I need any specific supplies for the pregnancy / babies ETC, please let me know. Also - before you tell me to research - I have been. I still am. I won't even think about adopting them or breeding them before I know everything. I have a reliable breeder to help me out the first time and if something goes wrong with the pregnancy she'll be able to give me a hand. I also have an exotics vet that will be able to treat the hedgehogs if they are ill. So what supplies will I need? Please list everything you can - money isn't really an issue here. I want to make sure I have everything I'll need. If you could list information sites and online stores I would appreciate it. My bonus questions is: can hedgehogs stay in multilevel cages? Thank you in advance.

Large cage (the one I i used for mine had a plastic bottom and wire top, and was 2'x5' for one hedgehog), wheel, water bottle, food bowl, wood chips for bedding, hut for them to sleep in, fingernail Clippers to clip their nails. Ask whoever you are adopting them from what kind of food they eat, some like to have meal worms and stuff for treats but that should not be fed as their main source of food. I also had a small portable pet fence that I used when I took him outside. I do not think they would really use a multi level cage, they like to burrow and would probably never go onto the top levels.
