How much hay can I give my horse a day to gain weight?
-
We are feeding alfalfa/grass mix right now and the flake that we give are approximately 8-10 lb each 2x/day. He needs about 50-100lbs added to his weight. Just wondering if we should give him more hay than what we are currently feeding him. How much is too much? We also added canola oil to his diet and his skin is looking healthier and not dry, but not gaining his weight back. He has been wormed 2mo in a row. Oats/ sweet feed make him HOT and not cooperative. Any advice? Can I add more hay or should I add some more grass hay in a 3rd feeding?
