Are humans essentially good or bad?

What are some things that are good for humans, but bad for animals?

  • I'm writing an essay for school, trying to convince people that expermenting on animals is wrong. And in one of the paragraphs i'm trying to show that things effect humans, and animals differently. So, i was wondering what things (Like food, medicines, beverages etc.) can be consumed, or used etc, by humans safely, but not animals, and vice versa! Thanks (:

  • Answer:

Bad foods: Chocolate, gum, grapes, raisins, avacodoes, any alcholic drinks, milk and any dairy product ( lactose intolerance), any medicine that is not prescribed to the pet in question, is just a start.

Chocolate is good for people (dark chocolate with low amounts of sugar but still) however its bad for dogs and many other types of animals. Blood doping helps humans run faster and is a quick way to cheat in soprts, but it can kill a horse. (It's not good for humans either because its imoral but it doesn't affect us in the same way which is what you are looking for). Oh, birds are able to digest lots of berries that we can't digest and would be poisonous for humans to eat. That's all I can think of right now. Interesting quesiton. I know that Grapes are healthy for humans, but harmful to dogs. I read somewhere years ago that a small dog should not eat chocolate half the size of its heart (or whole size of its heart?) because then the dog can kill itself if it runs around and its blood pressure raises. U can go here for more info on chocolate on dogs-> "Naturally, larger dogs can eat more chocolate, since they have a bigger (and more powerful) immune system that can fight it away. Smaller dogs become intoxicated more easily, since they have a smaller (thus weaker) immune system. The more pure the chocolate is, the more of a hazard it is to the dog -- and thus, the less amount of it a dog can have before becoming significantly intoxicated. White chocolate, and other forms of artificially-flavored-enhanced chocolate, are the least of the threats; dogs can actually eat quite a large amount of this sort of chocolate before becoming poisoned. However, milk chocolate, sweetened chocolate, and semi-sweetened chocolate are larger threats; dogs can eat small amounts of these. Pure chocolate (baking chocolate, for example) is very dangerous to a dog's health; it intoxicates them very easily!"
