How do you get fleas out of your house?

Can fleas live in a house without a pet? If so, how do I get rid of them with a baby in the house?

  • I live in a house with my boyfriend and 1-year old daughter. We held onto an old roommates cat for about a year, and the cat got fleas and brought them into our house. About a month and a half ago we gave the cat back to the old roommate, but we still have the fleas! My boyfriends gets bit on his feet and ankles, and I have seen a couple of fleas here and there, sometimes even in my baby girls hair! I hate it, but I don't want to bomb the house because of health reasons for my one year old daughter. Can fleas live in a house without a pet? If so, how long? How should I get rid of them without using a bomb?

    VERY thorough cleaning with your vacuum...you have to get into all corners, on and under all furniture, everywhere. The important thing to remember is to take the vacuum bag out of the house when you are done, otherwise the fleas will hop out and continue to live.

yeah they can live in the house without pets. I do not think a bomb is necessary. i think just cleaning the carpet will take care of it but if it starts to get really bad then i would say that you might should get a bomb. :)

Although you say that you don't want to bomb your house, that is honestly the BEST WAY to get rid of them. The bombs when you use them EVERYONE leaves the hours for like 3 or 4 hours. You won't smell anything when you get back. I used them once and that was the best way to get rid of them!!

You dont need a bomb. Just get your carpet cleaned! that is what I used to do, and it worked. good luck!
