  • I am deciding to buy a ferret.. I need an accurate answer. Many people have different answers. Also im a beginner with ferrets.. Soo how long would they live with a beginner. I plan to keep adopting them.. I want to become a good ferret owner once i know more about them. I am very responsible. I love animals i am a fun hyper person but im not sociable with people. I want to become proffesional with these little fuzzies. Im already in highschool. I really never spend time with my friends. So i guarantee ill spend lots of time with a little fuzzie that ill adopt in a few weeks. :) done lots of research!

    Factors - where do you live? US or UK or ? In the US we normally see the mass bred puppy mill type ferrets. Marshall Farms, Royal Canadian, Triple F (which is under investigation right now) and Path Valley Farms. Now not to scare you but I have had ferrets live from under one year to 12 years old. I am guessing a good average age is 8. Please feed high quality ferret food and provide adequate housing. Better quality feed = longer life possible. Now Marshall brand ferrets come with a health guarantee. Make sure the petstore gives you the certificate if you get one from there. If you get from a shelter/rescue they should be able to assist in getting you ferrets to fit your lifestyle. But they won't have the certificate. Not saying that certificate means they stay healthy. Just something to be aware of. I recommend the site below for what you need to watch for. BTW - they have a dooking ferret sound on their homepage that is very addicting. I get my ferret fix at work by listening to that page.

if you adopt one it'll probably be older. But they usually live 8-10 years. Mine was almost 10 when he died :( Ferrets are great pets

Ferrets usually live about 6-10 years. If they don't develop serious health issues they could live longer. Have fun with your new ferret! :)
