What Emergency Medical Equipment Should I Carry?

What specific emergency meds & equipment do I need for my rabbitry? And where do I get it?

  • I notice that a lot of rabbitries have their own medications & equipment for their rabbitry. I have been raising rabbits for a while, and would like to be able to have these on hand in any case of emergency and if the vet where to be closed. I do not plan on using it is subsitute for a vet, nor do I plan on using it without a large amount of research done prior. When I do decide to get the equipment, where do I get it from? And what specific things do I need? Also, I rescue a lot of rabbits and dehydration is a major thing I see. I know it is quite simple to re-hydrate them with the correct amount of water & electrolites, etc. Is this something I can buy as well? - The bag to administer it, the tube , any specific meds for it, & the needle?

  • Answer:

Your vet should be able to supply you with the products, as long as you don't ask for narcotics or anything. They can show you how to administer fluids and give injections in rabbits as well.
