Rabbit Problems - Please Help!?

  • My rabbit seems to have a lot of scabs or something on her body or this is what they feel like, she lives with another female and has done since they were born. She didnt have them at first up until a few days ago some from her back seem to have gone but she still has the odd few on her side. You cant really see anything but it does look a little red. Ive contacted the vet and im making them both an appointment to be checked and spayed. Thankyou. Also what does it mean when a rabbits ears are back? as the one with the problem has started to do this.

    The rabbit probably has mites. Check the inside of the ears for scabs. If there are scabs, most pet stores sell mite medication. Scrape the scabs out with a cotton swab and apply the medication.

Most probably either she's:- - injured herself on something inside of the hutch in some way - had an allergic reaction to something e.g. dust - suffering from external parasites, such as fleas, mites or ticks It's also possibly down to fighting injuries, but unlikely, as female rabbits usually get on well together.
