How can I buy my horse back?

  • I sold my horse like 2 yrs ago because i didnt have a place for him and was moving. The man I sold him to knew little about horses and ended up selling him last winter super cheap to this horse farmer. My mom and sis both have bought horses from this horse farmer and we all went to his place where i saw my old horse. He keeps him in the stall with little to eat, we could even seee his ribs. he will only give him some food after he does what he's supposed to. The farmer has trained him to sit on his butt like a dog and lay down on command..he wants 2500 for him! these tricks are useless and not that hard to train a horse. He will lease him out for 100 A month..i feel awful how he is being treated and will get him on green pasture asap, but wish i could buy him back, i raised this horse and trained him myself. All i could do is monthly payments to buy him, but could never do a 2500 one timer.

I take it he is not willing to negotiate... I would do what you have to do to raise the money... ask for people to help you out on FB, but expect some negativity as well. Are you truly in it for good this time, like a forever situation, or are you just wanting him back until it isn't suitable again. These are things to consider, and realistically horses are hard to give away these days... I doubt he is in a hurry to sell your old horse. There isn't an easy fix to repurchasing him, you most likely will have to cough up the money or move on. I'm not trying to sound like a downer, but it is what it is.
