Here is an useful guide on building the type of cage you are referring to. You use coroplast for the base of the cage. http://www.guineapigcages.com/cubes.htm

You would use Coroplast. It's a plastic-type signmaking material available from most any sign shop. This site has lots of information on locating the materials to build them, and constructing them: http://www.guineapigcages.com/ If you have problems finding the materials locally, you can order kits from the site as well, but it will be cheaper to purchase the materials all separately and locally.

You can use Coroplast. It's exactly like cardboard, but it's made of plastic not paper. Google it, you can get it cheap online. You can also use a regular blue tarp. Go to Home Depot, the aren't expensive. You can cut it to size and hem the edges, or just fold it.

Dig a large hole, about a meter deep and throw your guinea pig in. Works well.
