Why do people whine and moan when rabbits,guinea pigs,etc. are fed to reptiles?

Honestly, I just think its those kinda people who were sheltered most their life, limited television viewing, animal planet and discovery channel is blocked because mommy does not want the child seeing animals mate by accident. With that, you wont be able to grasp how the food chain works. Its the circle of life, eat or be eaten, defend of flee, only the strong survive. But oh well...let them whine and moan all they want.

well...I'm sure we get upset for the same reason as when a person gets eaten by a shark, killed by another person or hurt and maimed. we get upset when a dog gets ran over, a cat gets burned by some mean kids or an airplane goes down in flame. We're human. There are so many alternatives to feeding snakes nowadays. There is the "kill the prey and feed it immediately" by using baking soda or other homemade recipes(knocks them out and kills them?) so the animal is still warm and yummy but won't feel that pain of being crushed to death...or the frozen kinds they sell everywhere now. But with all the inhumanity and animal cruelty in the world, why would we like to hear of this at all ever?? Sounds like this is just a question that is answered out of common sense and you know the answer, just want to start an argument for boredom sake.

I agree very much with the above poster. Very eloquent delivery. And to the person above (in all caps), it is very hard to take your arguement seriously with all the misspellings, grammatical errors, and texting abbriviations. Please think before you type if you want people to listen.

A lot of those people would probably whine if they saw anything to do with animals being killed. I personally feel that any animal that eats live food should not be pets, I have had snakes before but as much I love them I think they are much happier being in the wild and not in captivity. I mostly stick to larger furry animals now mainly because my dads afraid of snakes, spiders, rats, etc. But I have very different views than most people I dont see why a dogs life should be valued more than a pigs I love all animals I am a vegetarian.

I honestly do not have a clue. Perhaps because they see one animal as cuter than another so it has more of a right to live? No. and what about those people *coughcoughaboveposter!cough* who call those animals innocent? What makes a rabbit or a guinea pig ANY less innocent than a rat or mouse? Rabbits are very commonly thought of as pests too, not just pets. These animals are not pets (because that would be really expensive) - they have been bred to be feeders Maybe if they realized that their precious, innocent bunnies and piggies were eaten by people too, rabbits especially....

some peeps keep those animals as pets and it bothers them to see them treated like food. i have snakes and i will confess, i won't get one that requires larger prey. my ball python could eat a small rat and i just give her 2 mice at a time. i had a rat with a personality years ago and i just can't bring myself to feed one to her. i don't whine or moan over it though. it is a fact of life.
