How long does it take to hand-milk a cow?

How many volts would it take to knock a cow off her feet. Say she is 12-1300 lbs.?

  • I work and live on a ranch. We are calving at this time of year. One problem that we have is dealing with mad cows when trying to give shots to the new born calf and put in a ear tag. I was thinking why cant we use stun guns to knock down the cow if she trys to kill us for doing our jobs. Cops use stun guns all the time to make there jobs safe. I was just wondering if the same thing would work with cows. If so how many volts would it take to make it work with out killing the cow. Little hard on the body when you got 12-1300 lb ticked off cow wanting to eat your luch so to say! And a lot of times its not easy on her if she dont get the point to back off!

    I doubt it would be lethal. Indeed, you might just make her angrier. How about sedatives? Talk to a vet.

For one that is mean and for two talk to your vet before you do anything mean to her. She's a mother and she's going to protect her calf. Mothers instinct comes in and she will protect it with all she has!
