How to make a fake fish tank/aquarium?

Do you think some fish make other fish misbehave?

  • I have convict cichlids in with peaceful fish. They have never attacked any of the fish. They chase each other, and may chase the other fish away from their cave, but thats it. Well i bought some other cichlids. When i added these to the tank, the convicts started attacking the other fish, the new cichlids had killed some of my fish. I returned the new cichlids and since i did, my convicts have never attacked any of my fish

  • Answer:

Main reason that cichlids show aggression is over territory. The community fish are no threat to territory, if they get too close, the convicts chase them off, but no one gets hurt. The other cichlids were trying to move in on their turf, so they tried to chase them off. Stress and aggression levels go up fish start getting hurt. Now the other cichlids are gone, things go back to normal. Ian

no. fish brains are too simple to think anything other than "food" and "danger" and "hey look there are some eggs! I should giz on those!"

cichlids are aggressive fish and among the species, some are more or less aggressive. I had a chocolate cichlid which is one of the mildest of the cichlids and was able to have it in my community fish tank and he bothered no one.
