What can I put in a 10 gallon tank?

  • I want something exotic, not just plain fish. I only have a 10 gallon tank right now. I would like something that gets kinda big but will live comfortably in a 10 gallon. Colorful please! BQ: I would love fiddler crabs, but I heard they escape easily. How can I stop them from doing this? And what could I put in with them if I do get some?

    Fiddler crabs are possible, just get a good lid as they can climb up air lines etc and squeeze out of gaps. The tank setup is different from most fish, brackish water and 1/2 land, or at least some rocks or logs to climb out on. But perfectly possible to keep some in a 10gal. Dwarf freshwater puffer fish are another option. They can be a bit fussy about water quality, but 2 in a 10gal is OK. Land Hermit crabs A Freshwater crayfish. Dwarf Aquatic Frogs. Cherry Shrimp Apple Snails. Madagasgar Hissing cockroaches even?

this is the perfect website for a 10 gallon aquarium. http://badmanstropicalfish.com/articles/article63.html also, you have to keep in mind that just because a fish is small, doesnt mean it can fit in a small tank. pufferfish need at least 30-50 gallons alone, and some of them aren't freshwater, they're brackish. most pufferfish are fin nippers as well, so housing puffer fish is quite difficult. and a peacock eel can grow to over a foot long so a 10 gallon aquarium is like stuffing someone in a small closet to live in. you really can't house exotic fish with 10 gallons, sorry. i know this isn't really what you want to hear, but i think you would prefer having a happy healthy aquarium where the fish have tons of room to swim instead of housing an unhealthy aquarium where fish keep dying and you'll just have to completely start the whole tank over because of diseases and water quality issues. hope i helped :)
