Is my freshwater angelfish is sick?

Please read description for freshwater angelfish questions?

  • hi i got 2 new angelfish and a clown loach yesterday the clown loach eats fine but the angelfish haven't eaten the food is tetramin tropical flakes does that have anything to do with it any other info on clown loach or angelfish would be appreciated as i know nothing about the fish

    You picked two of the worst fish to start aquarium keeping. Clown loaches are VERY sensitive to new tanks and require a tank thats been cycled for about..oh, maybe two months. They also require a school of 3 or more, as they will refuse to eat and die without other clown loaches around. Two angelfish is a bad choice, as one will grow dominant and bully the other one. Please, please return them, at least until you get a large tank and learn about these fish, and can afford to house 5 clown loaches.

Not sure why they dont eat. How big is your tank? Did you cycle it? With 2 angelfish one will most likely become agressive towards the other. Clown loaches are schooling fish that get 14 inches long, and need to be in groups of 4 or more. They also require a 125+ gallon tank when full grown.

Angels are finicky eaters and can go for a couple weeks without eating and not suffer from it. They are probably just getting used to their new surroundings and will start eating in a day or two. 8

I find that fish sometimes don't eat much until they've gotten used to your tank which could take a few days. If it still doesn't eat after a few days I suggest you feed your fish some frozen blood worms. Pretty much all fish love this stuff. Also the worms don't float at the top of the tank but just flow around in the water looking almost alive which makes it easier for the fish to see it since it's passing all around them.
