What tank is better for my betta fish?

What fish can I put in my 10 gallon tank with my betta?

  • In my 10 gallon tank, I have a filter(which isnt the best, so lets just say I dont have a filter) A rock with holes in it, A plant thats a couple inches taller than the tank, and some turtle grass. I had minnows in the tank before(I know minnows like currents and bettas dont but theyve been tankmates for years), and they did perfectly fine. All the minnows past away after a long lifespan, and I dont want to get them again. So what fish can I put in there that will do fine "without" a filter? I know bettas are fighting fish, so if the fish doesnt do good in the tank with my betta, I can always put it in my 20 gallon long tank.

    nothing, not even the betta itself, until you throw away your piece of pig feces filter and buy an effective one. transfer the media from the old one to the new one, and get yourself 4-6 pygmy corydoras catfish, or 6 dwarf cherry shrimp, or 4 ghost shrimp.

Every single fish needs a filter. A 10 gallon doesnt have many options. Any schooling fish (tetras, danios, platies, ect.) need 20+ gallons since they love to swim and dash. Cory catfish need atleast 30+ since they are also schooling but are bottom dwellers and need space. For your 10 i would suggest ghost shrimp or snails with the betta. If you upgrade u can add any schooling fish that are not fin nippers and/or have flowing fins like guppies or angelfish. GET a filter!!!!

Tetras are a good choice. Really any small tropical fish that can swim faster than the betta. But you really need a filter to keep it clean.
