What is the portfolio's beta?

What should I do with my beta?

  • I have an empty, cycled 10 gal tank. It has a filter, no heater I'm in Florida so it's allways 75-85. But I will ask for one for Christmas when it gets cooler. Anyways I have a 2 bata fish in 2 different tanks(males) I know they can't be together. I want to provide a good home for them. So should I divide it and put both betas in or just one and give him a very good life? The divider I have though I had to cut a peice off but can be easily hot-glued on. If I go with the one beta could I put like 4 neon tetras in? Or Cory cats? If not I won't, I've had this beta for a while and want him to live a good life. I have a bubbler (I'll only put on if I have anything other than the beta) some plants and a cave. If I can't do the beta it will be because of me not being able to get a heater. In wich case what can I get? My only problem with the beta was that my mom wanted something that's active and colorfull, wich is why I said beta. So could I have no beta And some white clouds and or rosy red minnows? But if possible I would love to give my beta a good home. So just tell me what you think I should do

  • Answer:

Don't use hot glue on anything going into a betta tank. Go to your local pet store and get a divider net to put in the middle of the tank. It will prevent the bettas from seeing each other without interrupting the flow of water in the tank. It is possible to introduce other species of fish into the tank with the bettas, but it really depends on the individual temperament of the betta. You'd do best with a fish that is the same size as the betta and docile. Gouramis can sometimes be good tank mates, but it's always best to consult with the people at the pet store.

Try to ask in a pet store a divider to separate them in just one tank.Don't put hot glue it might affect the health of your fish.It is not good to introduce other fishes to bettas because bettas are a really highly territorial fish they might try to jump to the other tank to get to the tank with other fishes. But if you want to put another fishes put them into another tank and keep the tank away from the bettas make sure that the bettas won't see the other fishes.Good Luck!
