Glass thickness?

What would be the thickness of bottom glass and side glass for any aqaurium?

  • as bottom and side glass have different pressure so what should be the ratio of thickness that one should maintain in bottom and side glass

  • Answer:

Tanks are usually built with the same glass for the base and the sides. How thick depends on the tank size. This site will work out the size of glass needed for any size tank. http://www.garf.org/Tank/BuildTank.asp Ian

First, +1 lanab's answer. I've never read of ratio's either, the glass is always the same thickness, to my knowledge. When I was looking into building a custom 5g (the ones at store don't fit where I was going to put it), the advice was no less than 1/8" thickness for small tanks, for larger than (10g?) I think they suggested 1/2", and for much larger tanks 3/4" up to 1 1/2" was recommended. I know for pacu you need at least 3/4" thick glass all around (or glass in front and something studier on bottom and other sides).

I can not top lanb
